I recently had the opportunity to connect with Houston’s arts community at the Bayou City Art Festival 2015. While working as a volunteer at the MFAH children’s creative corner tent, I met a few individuals and received advice on what it takes to be an artist full time. It was nice to get to know my city in such a way. Houston is more diverse than one would guess. During my time volunteering I met individuals from South Africa and Turkey who lived and worked here in Texas! I was honored to have spent a moment listening, sharing, and giving of my time to see the Art Festival suceed. Over time I hope to become more involved.
