My mom and I recently had the oppurtunity to see Faith Ringgold’s story quilt “Tar Beach” exhbit at the Houston Museum of African American Culture.

A part of the pleasure of this day was watching my mother navigate through the art museum and posing for me in pictures.
Most of my interest in quilting actually stems from my love of crocething. My mother taught me how to crochet, a skill she learned from her mother. While crotcheting, I developed a love for cloth making. Just as my love for clothmaking blossomed in college I had leared about Faith Riegnhold and her story quilts.
